Program Administrators:
As discussed at the last Program Administrators’ Meeting
(May 29, 2015), the LI-RAEN is requesting your assistance in
identifying 5 regional peer reviewers. These individuals will
work with the LI-RAEN and NYSED in a statewide Common Core State
Standards initiative helping to identify quality instructional
resources for teachers working in adult literacy programs.
The requirements/compensation for participating as a regional peer
reviewer are as follows:
1. Prior to our introductory meeting, review the two NYSED
websites dedicated to this project (especially noting the format
and content of the reviews on www.CollectEdNY.org): ;
a. www.teachingtothecoreNY.org ;
b. www.CollectEdNY.org ;
2. Participate in a Regional Peer Reviewers’ Introductory Meeting
on July 14, 2015 (12:PM to 2:00PM) @ Farmingdale State College
3. Agree to review at least one adult literacy resource (approved
by the LI-RAEN) and post the review (once reviewed by the LI-RAEN)
on the www.CollectEdNY.org site by September 15, 2015.
4. The 5 regional peer reviewers will have two compensation
options:
a. Choose a $250.00 stipend for their successful completion of
the above requirements.
b. Choose to receive 6 hours of professional development
credit towards their 2015-2016 12-hour requirement for their
successful completion of the above requirements.
This is an exciting professional development option that will not
only benefit the regional peer reviewers participating but also
the adult literacy practitioners within New York (and potentially
nationally and internationally).
